The joys of Zbrush!

current song: Dance Macabre - DW4 ost

Started giving Zbrush a try last night, twas frustrating to start off with (like with all new programs, heh) but this morning I got a little more used to it. Now I'm quite enjoying it!

Attempted to sculpt my face for the self-portrait project:

And I'm not too big a fan of being bald so I quickly stuck it in Photoshop and painted mah hair over it XD :

I don't think it looks like me >_>.

Lots more need to be done, like the cheekbones and forehead, and the features probably need more tweaking too.

Self-portrait in the theme of Mortal Engines

Thanks to all of those who voted and commented on my concept ideas (LJ, Facebook and Blogger). The first two designs were the most popular ones so I've decided to mix those two up a bit in my final design.

Here are some work-in-progress screenshots of my self-portrait model so far (yay it's me! XD), I still have loads of things to tweak. The main criticism I'm getting from fellow coursemates is that my topology is quite messed up, so that needs to be tidied it up before I go on to unwrapping.

I always have my hair down but I just felt like putting it up in a ponytail for this project XD.

6,615 tris so far (including the body model underneath the clothes. I think I'll delete it once it's all done and attached.

... I mean, help me choose an outfit for my self-portrait character in the theme of Mortal Engines? 8D These are just basic concept ideas and I'll be adding details onto the final version. Also, each item of clothing can be swapped around.

And my mini obsession with Hanfu kicked in a couple of weeks ago so I've been painting this one on and off in between uni projects:

Just showing that I have not neglected my 3D Dun model (how could I?!), and am slooooooowing doing this in between uni work. Hmm, his hair needs to be a tad bit longer and his beard alpha'd................ and.......... I AM VERY PROUD OF HIS LIPS.

Lol at his current blank stare. He's like o_o.

Crits are welcome.

Yes, I am aware that there is a horribly stretched texture area on one of the mountains (right in the freaking middle) ..........................................and I should really fix it..............................................but it's handed in already 8D.

I'm not too proud of it actually... but I did enjoy modelling it as it has made me like creating environments now (the Henry VIII summer project was so tedious), but I'm looking forward to moving onto the next project which is a vehicle design. All our projects so far are based on Philip Reeves' book, Mortal Engines.

Man, the neighbours are playing music so loudly I can hear every single word... gaaaah.

Work in progress for my environment project. This is my interpretation of the bottom part of a city called Batmunkh Gompa from the book Mortal Engines by Philip Reeves.

Our tutors told us to study the masters, choose an artist and reproduce one of their works. So I chose Rembrandt and imitated his portrait of Johannes Wtenbogaert. I quite like painting everything in one layer now.

Well, here's a work-in-progress render of my Henry VIII Banquet Scene for my university summer project.

The room is supposed to be lit up by candlelight, and there are candles, but I, uh, need to figure out how to make candle flames >_>.

I also want to put a LOT more chairs along the table but I am seriously close to the tris limit DX.

So! This is my first experiment with strip-modelling the face. Man, I'm never gonna box-model heads ever again after learning this. Why didn't I learn how to strip-model earlier?!

The back and sides of the head are really screwed up. But that's okay, because I can cover that area up with hair, right? *bricked*.

OH LOOK WHO IT IS. Surprise surprise.
